Lockdown in Spain-Day 29, bad news

Today we received word that a friend of ours who lives in Madrid has been in hospital for three weeks, struck by Covid-19.  She was "the girl next door" but actually living across the street.  After I graduated from high school and went to the US and did whatever for about 45 years, we re-connected when Isabel and I moved to Spain.

The news of many thousands of deaths and millions of infections is horrible, but as long as the faces are anonymous, the horror and sadness is dulled.  When you can see a friend in the picture, it really hits home.  I don't believe in prayer, but I did.
