Apache Trail

Apache Trail scenery

This was probably the most breathtaking drive I ever took. Not to mention stomach-churning; when I looked down!

Superstition Mountain

This was taken from my campsite

Welcome to Oxnard

Joe suffered the only flat of our trek

Unflappable

Para-surfers

The guy in the center is "getting air".

Joe in front of the neighborhood we're thinking of buying into.

Wishful Thinking!

I'm actually riding

This is the stuff you read about in travel brochures; sunny rides, waving palms, dolphins frolicking in the surf, blah, blah, blah...

On the Santa Barbara Pier

Photo looks decievingly warm

Monday AM Amtrak

I'm beginning to see the folly of owning a car

Sunset for the birds

Waiting for one last wave

Paddle Surfers

I think an electric motor would be easier

Venetian real estate

The nicer end, near Marina del Rey

On Santa Monica Pier

Cool breeze and cussid fog-still

I WILL be back

Enough, already-I don't want to bore you.

First of many photo-stops

See, I really did make it.

Big Sur coastline

Too Beautiful for words OR cameras

Visible-man

Pic taken at the elephant seal (they are the ones not wearing screaming yellow) sanctuary somewhere near San Simeon, by an English tourist/coastguardsman on holiday. The fog had thinned 50% when this was taken.

New Crop of Wrenches

l. to. r.: Kiwi Chris, Kahuna Kris, Trent, Doesn't-Like-Anything-Drew, Joshua /"Canada", Steelers Danny, Big Lonnie (in back of "wound-too-tight" Allan, Y.T., Dave Kurushima

Exam Writer

Why is this guy Smiling?

Jackson Mill Summit

Really pretty until one realizes that it and its brethren are between you and home.

Fahmah

I guess agriculture doesn't pay in Jackson County

Iowa Corn

Gradeeation Pitcher

I'll get a better shot of the jersey this weekend. Its theme is "global warming" with glowing mushroom clouds front and back, the little yellow and black radiation warning symbols on the shoulders and "Nuke 'Em" on the sides. I wore it to the exam and one of the instructors asked if I were planning to "bomb" the test.

Deja vu

Reminded me of Ringdahl Hill, the old Locsin spread...

Jacksonville Vineyard

It was not hard to pass all the "free sample" invites at all the vineyards. I just have to tighten the steering damper and the bike won't turn.

First ride down

We thought, looking at the map, that this forest service road would take us an hour or more. We were down in about fifteen minutes.

Danny reading contour lines

I finally figured out why he would take off just as I struggled up to him. He knew I was so weak I could only whisper, I ^@*&%#$? quit!" and wanted to be out of earshot.

Sunrise from our balcony

White Rabbit Trail

Photo taken before I walked up from the lower end-that's why the smile.

My first advert.

You, too, can ride like this on a LOCSICYCLE. Buy one now!!!

Crater Lake=beautiful!

Almost indescribable. I would like to try to do the whole 33 miles around next weekend if the weather permits.

Chris, Danny and me

Altitude got to us all and we only did 5 miles. Cold and wet didn't help; but now we can brag in a limited fashion

View of hills to East

Have done some oxygen-starved cycling in the foot hills

Moi

Can't wait to see how my "Institutional Orange" jumpsuit looks

Hostel Kitchen

Everybody's been pretty neat and considerate

Joe Koesters

He won't be smiling after I pick out his next bike.

Ultimate Workbench

I want one of these!

Tatanka

Who wants to get this guy to swallow a magnet?

Adel Community Center

I walked in here to deliver a message from Paul to the lady who had given him a tomato and was concerned about his cycling off into the desert/mountains. I thought I'd walked into the last century: Stetson-wearing cowpokes in boots and the like, sitting around tables swilling cold ones and spitting baccy-juice into a spitoon in the corner. The only person out of character (or should I say uniform) was the blonde in the UPS uniform, who was plastered to her 'poke. I didn't know which I longed for more, my sixgun or a Budweiser...

At base of Devil's Tower

I am standing amidst debris which are remnants of columns which have eroded off the tower.

Sirloin on the hoof

This is one of the main hazards to driving in "open range" country, where few fences exist. Notice that it is on my side of the fence.

Sunrise Moon

Full moon was setting as sun rose behind me while I was cruising the Bonneville Salt Flats near the Nevada border.

Almost Full

The ride down in the dark at 35 mph was exhilarating

First Snowfall in Cascades

And I thought I was leaving this behind

Paul Devin

On his way toward lobster in the Spring

Badlands

Reminds me of Star Wars scenery

Bad weather in Badlands

This storm actually was a relief from the blistering heat

My shadow on Iowa cornfield

Gives new meaning to "high-speed photography"

Crazy Horse model & mountain

It was raining and nasty and I wanted to stay in the warmth.

I'm not really panting. 4,xxx feet above sea level doesn't make a difference-YEAH, RIGHT!!!

A Friendly Reminder

Signs are everywhere, maybe they are sprayed with snake repellant...

Half a Mile of Hell

and back...

Bridge to Iowa

I'll be cycling across this within the hour

Buzz & me

Refrigerator/heater from the Buzalkos as a retirement present
